Our society is witnessing an increasing mobility, with the concepts of "space" and "distance" undergoing a significant transformation due to the influence of digital media. A dedicated industry now exists to communicate and generate information, brands, and experiences in various media spaces. The University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) equips you with the expertise to revolutionize communication in both virtual and physical realms, creating compelling and enduring experiences. In the master's program of New Media Design (formerly Media Spaces), you will acquire the skills to analyze and identify spatial, dynamic, and non-linear forms of expression, applying them to your own conceptualizations of space. This program positions you perfectly to devise sophisticated design and technological solutions for multidisciplinary challenges, leveraging the robust media competence you will gain as a graduate.
It
was formed in 2017 as the University of Applied Sciences Europe by a merger of the Business and Information
Technology School and the Berliner Technische
Kunsthochschule. The university was previously owned by the
American company Laureate Education and
was acquired by Global University Systems in
2018. In October 2020, the university changed its name to University of Europe
for Applied Sciences.
The New Media Design master’s programme is a project-based degree programme and perfect for students who have completed undergraduate studies at university level in an artistic, design, or media-related subject area. At the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE), you’ll have the unique opportunity to contribute your own personal design skills and background and make something meaningful out of them – whether in communication design, media design, architecture, stage design, design management, or media theory.
The first two semesters consist of interdisciplinary project-based studies, the theory of various media and process-based events, as well as a catalog of compulsory courses. You will work in a team throughout an entire semester on a joint challenge and go through the typical phases of a project, just as you would in your future career: from research, planning, and concept creation to realisation, documentation, and presentation.
The entire 3rd semester is dedicated to your master’s thesis. This module includes the completion of your thesis, which consists of a design-in-practice part and an academic part. The programme offers an in-depth, hands-on approach, which creates unlimited opportunities for you to explore new, hybrid ideas and discover new career areas – above all within the digital media realm.
