Course Overview

The Gisma Foundation Programme is crafted for students aspiring to pursue one of our bachelor’s degree programs but may require additional assistance in meeting Gisma's entry requirements. Our foundation program aims to empower individuals like yourself with the essential skills, knowledge, and experience needed to seamlessly qualify for direct entry into our business or computer science bachelor’s programs. Gisma provides two distinct foundation degree pathways, offering a streamlined transition into a bachelor’s program. Recognizing the diverse backgrounds and varied educational experiences of potential successful degree-level students, we offer comprehensive support in just one semester. This includes English language assistance and the development of subject-specific, cognitive, and methodological skills necessary for admission to Gisma’s undergraduate degree programs. Upon successful completion of all foundation modules and achieving a minimum B2 level of English language proficiency, you can seamlessly progress to your bachelor’s level modules.

University Details

GISMA University of Applied Sciences is a privately owned University in Germany with its main site in Potsdam and a branch in Berlin. It was launched in September 1999 as a joint initiative by the German state of Lower Saxony and several large private-sector companies that were based there. In financial difficulty after its partnership with Krannert School of Management ended, GISMA was rescued from bankruptcy when it was bought by the for-profit education company Global University Systems in September 2013.

Syllabus

The Foundation Programme will be taught over six months which includes an intensive English module taught over this period.

The structure and content of the programme and its individual modules have been carefully designed to allow students to develop the skills and acquire the knowledge necessary to make a successful transition to their chosen Business or Computer Science related degree pathway. 

On average, the learning time will be around 125 hours per module in the Foundation Programme representing the time you will need to spend on average on the whole range of learning activities. This includes lectures, tutorials, group work, independent study, preparing coursework and sitting for examinations. The language module comprises 550 hours and is taught over two quarters.

You will choose either the “Business Pathway” or the “Computer Science Pathway” depending on which bachelor programme you wish to enter after successfully completing the Foundation Programme.
